Who can participate in BUDR?

Anyone can apply! If space is limited, preference will be given to biology undergraduates from underrepresented backgrounds.

When does BUDR run?

In 2025 the mentorship program will run in fall 2025 and the microexperience program will run between December 2025 and April 2026

How do I get involved in BUDR?

Applications for 2025 BUDR mentees (undergrads) and mentors (grad students, postdocs, staff, and faculty) will open in early September 2025. Only BUDR mentees are eligible to apply for the Microexperience program.

What do I do as a BUDR mentee?

Mentees meet with their mentors for approximately 4 hours a month, and have the option of participating in skill-building workshops and applying to the Microexperience program.

What do I do as a BUDR mentor?

Mentors meet with their mentors approximately 4 hours a month, and participate in 1-2 hours of training related to mentorship and EDI prior to working with their mentees.

What is a BUDR Microexperience?

Microexperiences are part-time paid research opportunities that pair selected BUDR mentees with research labs in the Botany and Zoology departments. Microexperiences are targeted toward BUDR mentees with little to no previous research experience. The total work term is 40 hours.
